![]() ![]() If USB installation does not work, try the DVD method. I don't have anything like that to work with at this point, seeing as the Microsoft "support" employee (aka sales monkey) told me to go ahead and clean my drive and then my installer would magically work.Įdited by Zalus, 21 February 2015 - 10:30 PM. Except they solved it and I made it worse. This user seems to have had the same problem I did. ![]() I'm looking at the manufacturer's page for my mobo, seeing that my BIOS version is the release version. I originally tried to use the 8.1 installation media feature, it was the first thing I did. I did switch them back and forth while trying to make the installation work. I'm wondering if maybe my Hd partitions are set to MBR though. I followed the directions on the linked page and formatted it to GPT as indicated. If you have a retail Windows 8 key you can download the Windows 8.1 iso here. Not sure that would help with my installation, though. The first one here seems to be a BIOS setting that forces the system to pretend that the USB drive is some other type of media. The next two menus are tempting for me but I'm not sure I should touch these settings without proper advice. I only know what half of these mean.Ī few of the forum posts I've seen floating out there talking about the error message I received when trying to install windows 8 mentioned making sure the system was AHCI compliant. These are the peripheral entries in my BIOS. Maybe they can help point out the source of my problem. I'm sure it's something insultingly simple that's just outside of my knowledge. ![]() There is no windows store on my side of Canada and I don't know a reliable technician who can diagnose this situation. Maybe I did something wrong with the drive, or partition format, or even my bios setup? I'm at a desperate loss. ![]()
